ROW80 Check-In

Today is my second ROW80 check-in. While I started off with a bang, I have to admit that I hit a fizzle and am now shooting sparks. Basically I've kept up with most of my goals, but not all. I'm hoping to figure out what happened to make that change.

The goals I've kept:
I've been getting sleep, exercising, and eating right.
I've written for no less than 30 minutes a day.

The goals I'm waffling with:
My edits. So, I'm going to set 5 pages per day to edit, rather than trying to bust out as many pages as possible. I need the goal to be obtainable, one I can manage each day. So hopefully when I next check in, I'll have found a better process.

I hope my fellow ROW80ers are finding success with their goals!

Marie

  1. Well done on your week one successes! A number of pages to edit seems good as it gives you a finish line each day to aim for...I am all about the counting down! Hope you have a good week.

  2. Good job on the goals you're meeting! But editing is difficult. I had a really hard time editing my last work. Just make sure the goal you set for editing is doable for you. And don't beat yourself up if you're not perfect. Good luck!

  4. Thank you so much Laura :) I don't have an easy time with edits...and this is the longest book I've ever written. I had to admit that I feel a bit overwhelmed. But I'm determined too, so I'm hopeful :)

  5. I agree, editing is difficult and sometimes a page count can't be forced. One page could take forever and the next page is virtually error-free.

Great accomplishments. Sometimes we just need to pat ourselves on the back, give ourselves a good hug, and face the next week determined as ever.

Congratulations and best of luck going forward. Thanks, too, for stopping by my check in at Depression Cookies!

  6. Thanks so much Tia :) It's wonderful how encouraging everyone is! I'm definitely going to figure out a way to rework my edit goal so that I don't set myself up to fail by making a goal I can't achieve.

  7. This is just one week of many. Don't look at what you haven't achieved, look at the success you've had. You've got a plan, and I wish you look for the coming week :-)

  8. That was supposed to read 'luck' not 'look'. Guess I need to work on my proof reading, hehe. I'll add it to my goals next week. :-)

  9. editing is best done nice and easy - it so important - if only one page gets done and is done well then thats a good result - the best- will lead to great book

  10. Congrats on your progress! One of the things I love about ROW80 is the flexibility. I've made my goals small so that I don't get overwhelmed. It's been working well for me so far.
