ROW80 Check-In and More

Whew, the first part of this week has flown by! I'm somewhat sorry to see that August has come to an end, mainly because it felt much too short. But I'm a fall girl, so I welcome the change of seasons. I tend to be a lot more productive in fall, as well.

Since Sunday I've kept to my personal goals of getting plenty of sleep and exercise. And on the professional goals I'm doing well. I wrote 3K on a new steampunk short story, and hope to get another 3K done by Friday. I'm still working on my edits with a renewed enthusiasm (actually my hope is to say that enough that I convince myself of that) and hope to make great strides with it.

Initially I figured that by the end of August I'd be done with the edits. I might have been incorrect to think that way. Many life obstacles shook up my intended focus, and then I took a good look at my novel and made some necessary tweaks that helped and hindered. But I'm sticking with it because I do love the story, and I'm itching to start on the rest of the books in the series.

On the 2nd of this month, I will have my short story Iron Butterfly published, first online, and then in a print antho. I hope you'll stop by and check it out :)

Also I've signed up for The Third Writer's Platform-Building Campaign. I have Jamila to thank for that :) (thanks Jamila) I've so enjoyed the wonderful support of ROW80, and made new friends as a result. I want to continue that support and to cheer people on throughout their writing paths.

All right, since it's just about dinner time I better get this post finalized. Can't wait to find out how everyone else has been doing all week!

Marie

  1. Great check-in! August has flown by and I too love Autumn. Lots of ROW80ers seem to, I think we like the idea of hibernating and writing!

I hope you reach your word count goal and I look forward to reading Iron Butterfly.

Have a great weekend! (sorry, I am welcoming the weekend!)

I'm glad you to see that you are making great progress, despite the ripples. I'm looking forward to reading Iron Butterfly, Steampunk is a quiet love of mine.

  5. Yay, so happy to see that you've joined the campaign! I'm dreading the arrival of fall, if only because it means that school is back in session again and there is LOADS to get done. The consolation is that the weather in the fall should be nice and warm, which means that I can do some of this work on the beach, instead of huddled in my apartment. :D

Enjoy the rest of the week!
