ROW80 Check-In 8/7

It looks to be that time again. And all I can say is yay for ROW80! This challenge came at a great time. For much of July I battled the pesky self-doubt dragons. I pushed on, but they never really left me alone. Now that we're into August, I barely notice those dragons. I'm much stronger. I hope that by the end of the month, I'll have defeated those dragons for good.

This challenge has been so meaningful because of all the great supporters behind it. So I thank you to everyone who stops by and offers up a congrats or an atta girl - seriously - it's very much appreciated.

So here's a quick rundown. Since Wednesday:
- I have edited 30 pages of my novel.
- Written 1000 words on my novel in progress
- Edited my steampunk horror short story, though there's still a small part I still want to tweak, so I'm not ready to sub it just yet.
- Wrote 2000 words on another WIP
- Worked out
-Stayed positive.

Today will mostly be a day off, except for a little writing and a few pages of edits. Much as I enjoyed time off last weekend, I have a personal deadline to hit.

I also look forward to stopping by other ROW80ers blogs to cheer them on.

:) Marie

  1. Great news for you having slayed your dragons. I think all of you folks deserve huge pats on the back for enduring such tough schedules. You're better people than I. Lol!
Good luck with your writing and enjoy that "mostly" day off.

  2. Great job on your goals Marie! Glad you tamed to the dragons, better to fly on them through the clouds than have them land on you.

    Have a great week :)

  3. I seem to find those dragons like rearing their ugly heads during the summer. Or the muse just gets too tired to do anything. Is it just me? Same here, now that it's August I'm doing much better in my writing. Weird.

Anyway, that all sounds great! I bet building the momentum helps keep you going. :-)

  5. Wonderful progress, Marie. I love Gene's image of you riding the dragons rather than having them land on you!

I love the community of ROW80, and I agree with your comment of how helpful hearing from other people can be. I'm often beset with self-doubt dragons, but the people who cheer on my progress, no matter how slow, are so wonderful!

Have a great week--and enjoy those tamed dragons!

  7. Great progress on your writing goals :) Even though I love dragons, the self doubt variety can be a pain in the backside, so it's good that you've managed to thwart them.

  9. Lol! I agree Gene - I don't want them to get the impression that they are ever welcome! The next time they come flying around, they are in for a serious fight! :) I appreciate you stopping by!

  10. Hi Angela :) Maybe it is the summer...it very well could be. I have a couple times each year where I notice that I get into a slump. My hope is that my reaction and recover time improves each time that it happens. I hope the rest of your August is empowering, creative, and productive!

  11. Good evening Wosushi! Sometimes you just need that special push or kick in the pants to get yourself back on track. I'm so glad to hear that ROW80 has been beneficial for you too! I think I'm hooked on this challenge, and already look forward to the next round, lol.

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by :)

  12. Thanks Nancy :) Being a writer can be so solitary and lonely sometimes. I used to hole myself up all by myself and didn't really reach out to people. Now that I have, I see what a difference it makes. And meeting new people with like-minded goals makes it so much for the better.
:) I hope you get everything you want out of this challenge, and more!
